If given the chance to design Shamcey Supsup‘s national costume for Miss Universe 2011, top designer Rajo Laure.
And here’s what he has to say about the design:
“For the National costume I wanted to do something inspired by the Mountain province region. I have always been intrigued by the Benguet dance involving the balancing of several pots on the head ‘Palayok’. I wanted to do a modern female version of the bahag made out of gold, red and wood beads with a silk fringe bahag. Something provocative and sexy with lots of skin. I think this part of our heritage should be celebrated!”
