Mario Maurer movie in the Philippines has been approved.
MOVIE WITH STAR CINEMA. When news about Mario's visit to the Philippines came out, there were rumors that he would be doing a movie with Kapamilya actress Erich Gonzales.
Although nothing had been finalized, Erich said she was grateful to be considered as his leading lady.
Joyce Ramirez of PR Asia Worldwide confirmed to PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) this morning, September 23, that the Mario Maurer movie has been approved.
But it is still not official if Erich will be his leading lady.
Star Cinema will start work on the movie in March 2012.
"Ten [shooting] days in Manila and 15 days in Bangkok," said Joyce in a text message to PEP.
The group is currently auditioning the Thai cast, that will also be supported by Filipino actors.
Mario's movie will be directed by Filipino director Rory Quintos.

Penshoppe unleashes Thai invasion with Mario Maurer
MANILA, Philippines – Leading Philippine fashion brand PENSHOPPE carries on its campaign to cross the international style threshold, and at the same time, to cater to its younger market, as it welcomes its new face, MARIO MAURER—one of Thailand’s hottest stars among his generation.
Maurer steps in as Penshoppe’s latest presentor, as recently confirmed by the line’s brand director Alex Mendoza. The 22-year-old actor and model takes off from the brand's international campaign, which was earlier led this year by British actor Ed Westwick of the popular series "Gossip Girl."
"Mario will not only make Penshoppe a bigger fashion name across the borders. He will also help grow the market in the local and Southeast Asian region, especially knowing that he has a gained wide following among the younger set," Mendoza said on selecting the Thai star.
“Mario is fresh, appealing and very influential. He represents the exciting new changes happening to the brand now,” he added.
Maurer, known for his strikingly boyish good looks, and cool, young, free-spirited style, has proved much of himself in the regional entertainment industry. Aside from gracing magazine covers, he has shown sensational acting skills by top-billing films year after year.
Among the films that boosted Maurer’s name to public consciousness was "The Love of Siam" released in 2007. In his debut role, he played a conflicted teen who develops a romantic liking to his boyhood friend. His remarkable portrayal awed fans from the Philippines, winning a Best Actor award at the 2008 Cinemanila, an annually-held international film festival in the Philippines.
In 2010, Maurer also starred in "First Love (Crazy Little Thing Called Love)," a romantic-comedy which saw him garnering major acting awards, and assured him a spot as one of the region’s most sought-after stars.
Maurer, meanwhile, is expected to arrive in the Philippines this October to shoot the Penshoppe campaign with renowned Hollywood photographer Darren Tieste flying in from Los Angeles. The campaign is expected to grace magazine covers and billboards across the country.
Meanwhile, fans will have the opportunity to meet and greet Mario Maurer as PENSHOPPE is set to host a Fan Conference for the Thai heartthrob. The gathering will be held on October 28, 2011 (Friday) 1PM at the PICC Plenary Hall in Manila (gates open at 11AM). The FanCon will be hosted by fellow Thai presenter VJ Utt with special live performance by pop Asian girl group Blush and co-presented by official media partner ABS-CBN.
Mechanics for the FanCon entry can be found on PENSHOPPE’s official Twitter and Facebook pages.

Mario Maurer meets with Star Cinema executives for a possible movie
If the deal with Star Cinema pushes through, Thai heatthrob Mario Maurer may shoot scenes of his movie here in the Philippines and in Thailand.
When PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) asked Roxy Liquigan, ad prom director of Star Cinema, ABS-CBN film production arm, regarding the possibility of Mario doing a movie here in the Philippines, he revealed, "There are ongoing talks."
Will he shoot his scenes here in the Philippines? "Meron dito and meron din sa Thailand."
Have they already chosen a leading lady for the Thai actor? "Sa September pa mafa-finalize ang lahat, including the schedule," explained the Star Cinema executive.
Mario's good looks and boyish charm in the Tagalized version of the film Crazy Little Thing Called Love captured the hearts of Filipino viewers when it was aired on last June 5. In fact, when the movie was aired on ABS-CBN on that Sunday morning, it earned a rating of 18.8 percent nationwide, according to data from Kantar Media.
Mario has a German father and a Chinese mother. He started modeling at age 16 and hasn't stopped since then. In 2007, the acting bug bit him and he starred in his first film Love of Siam, which earned for him a Best Actor trophy in the Southeast Asian film category of the 10th Cinemanila International Film Festival.
And in 2010, Mario had a plum role in the international hit Crazy Little Thing Called Love.
E-Live caught up with him during his pictorial for a Filipino clothing brand. Mario was spotted talking with the StarAd Prom specialist Mico del Rosario and director Enrico Santos.
In an interview aired during the August 6 episode of Entertainment Live, Mario admitted, "My friends told me they have friends in the Philippines and they liked the movies Love of Siam and Crazy Little Thing called Love. And I heard they changed my movie and I speak in Tagalog."
He added, "I know that the Philippines is very nice. The people are very nice too. I want to go there first and meet my fans. I would like to take a vacation and maybe go around. I would like to go to Manila."
Mario is very appreciative of his Filipino fans who send nice messages to him via Twitter. He pointed out, "It's very important for me to interact with my fans because I have friends in the Philippines, Korea and China so I think I want to be close to them. I want to get to know them and talk to them. Tell them what I do...there are many fan clubs [who are] Filipinos."
What is his impression of Filipino girls?
"My friend told me they're very cute and very nice," he said with a smile.
Star Cinema executives gave the model-actor a miniature jeepney, which he looked at with amazement. He described it as a "a very big tuktuk," referring to the common mode of transportation in Thailand.

Mario Maurer is willing to do a movie in the Philippines
Ang libangan daw niya ay pagkolekta ng mga vintage car models. “And I collect many books about cars,” dagdag pa niya. Sinabi pa niya na mayroon nga raw siyang maliit na model ng Philippine jeep at itinatago niya ito sa isang cabinet niya sa bahay. Kapag may libreng oras, ang pinagkakaabalahan daw niya, “I usually go skate-boarding (or) go to the gym and lift weights with my friends.”
Meron din daw siyang simpleng pangarap. “I just wanna build a house with a little bit of space and I want to make a garage and next to the garage I want to make a skateboard park. I want to wake up in the garage and walk a little bit and I have my skateboard park.”
Sa tipo naman niyang babae, paglalarawan ni Mario, “I like (a) sweet girl, kinda happy girl, funny girl. I like girls who dress up nice.”
Sinabi pa sa report ng The Buzz kahapon na pinaplano ngayon ng Star Cinema na kunin si Mario para makagawa ng movie sa bansa. “If I have a chance to do a movie in the Philippines (it) would be very great,” anang aktor.
Sinabi rin ni Mario na bibisita siya sa bansa para sa endorsement ng isang clothing brand.
